Taglit-Birthright Israel San Diego Community Bus Summer 2008
This summer over forty
young Jewish professionals and graduate students left on a Taglit-Birthright
Israel trip on the first ever San Diego community bus. Participants visited the
San Diego supported Ibim Village in Sha’ar Hanegev as well as many other sites
all over Israel. Click here to catch a glimpse of
everything they experienced over their free 10 day trip.
Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of first
time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages
18-26. The community buses offer San Diego community members the opportunity to
experience Israel while meeting other Jewish individuals living in the San Diego

Scott Stone Teen Trip 2008 Is Well On Its Way!
On June 29, 31 San Diegan teens left for a month long tour to Israel, which includes 3 days in Prague. This full month trip provides a special opportunity for teens to see, touch; smell, taste and most importantly feel Israel. The Jewish Agency's Chefs' Training Course puts new
Ethiopian immigrants, ages 17-25, on a fast track to a marketplace-aligned
career option. These young adults, who are too old to integrate into the formal
secondary school system when they come to Israel, and have not yet acquired a
vocational skill or profession, train to become professional chefs. Click here to

Launches EMERGENCY FUND to Help Weather-battered Communities in the Central
U.S.
The UJC Central U.S. Disaster Relief Fund -- which will include a mailbox
for accepting checks and an online donation form -- will help victims in the
Jewish and general populations, with funds going to local communities that have
been affected by natural disasters. No administrative costs will be deducted

awarded a special grant to the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center to help
capture the excitement and energy of the Maccabi Games…
This award helps create a permanent outreach, through the thousands of
San Diego Jewish families who have registered to assist with the games. Please
